The ICAA is thrilled to announce the addition of two new fellows to the ¡Aquí Estamos!:Latinx Art at the Museum of Fine Arts cohort, supported by the Mellon Foundation. Based in the MFAH departments of Conservation, Learning, and Interpretation, the fellows will contribute to research on collection objects made by Latinx artists and their care and interpretation. Welcome to the MFAH/ICAA!
¡Aquí Estamos!: Fellows

2025 Interpretive Fellow: Stephanie Cuyubamba Kong (Houston, TX)
Stephanie will assist the department of Learning and Interpretation in making Latinx art accessible and engaging to a broad audience. She will participate in the development of a range of interpretive content, including audio guides, in-gallery interactives, and online platforms, as well as the assessment of the Museum’s interpretive resources.
Stephanie Cuyubamba Kong is a working artist and educator from Ohio who is now based in Houston, Texas. Her photo-based practice draws from her cross-continental life, connecting memory, tenderness, and material to investigate questions of longing and care surrounding her first-generation Peruvian American experience.
Cuyubamba Kong received her BFA from the University of Cincinnati and is currently an MFA Candidate at the University of Houston. As an artist, she has exhibited nationally and internationally at galleries and universities, including Callao Monumental (Callao, Perú), Magenta Galería (Lima, Perú), Houston Center for Photography (TX), University of Dayton (OH), Northern Kentucky University, University of Kentucky. She also participated in the 2022 and 2024 FotoFocus Biennials and was an Artist-in-Residence at the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati. From 2022-23, Stephanie was a Fulbright scholar in Lima, Perú.

2025-26 Conservation Research Fellow, Latinx Art: Camille Ferrer (Houston, TX)
Camille will assist in compiling a comprehensive survey of the MFAH’s collection of Latino art through examinations, condition assessments, material analysis, and recommendations for object treatment analysis, and recommendations for object treatment.
Camille Ferrer is originally from Puerto Rico, where she started her conservation experience as an intern at the Museo de Arte de Ponce. She earned a B.A. in Art History with a minor in Chemistry at Suffolk University in Boston. She then pursued a dual master’s degree in Conservation of Art and Cultural Heritage, specializing in paintings (MA) and Conservation Science and Imaging (MS) at the Garman Art Conservation Department at SUNY Buffalo State in New York. As part of her pre-program training, she interned in large and small museums and private conservation practices.
Prior to joining MFAH, Camille was an Andrew Mellon Fellow in Painting Conservation at the Brooklyn Museum, NY, where she assisted in remodeling the American exhibit. She is honored to be a part of the ¡Aquí Estamos! initiative as a conservation fellow and to conduct research and analysis of source material and conservation of Latinx artworks at the MFAH.
