The plan to reorganize the TLA (Taller Libre de Arte), presented by the painter Alirio Oramas (b. 1924), who at the time was an official at the INCIBA (Instituto Nacional de Cultura y Bellas Artes), underscores the prevailing state of crisis at the Taller. According to Oramas, a founding member of the TLA, the plan was presented to Dr. Gottberg (also an official at the INCIBA), in response to the latter’s suggestion, but no reply had been received. This article and these declarations are in step with the Manifiesto S.O.S. that was being circulated at that time (November 1966). This suggests that Oramas was taking a number of different approaches in search of a solution.
