Enio Iommi (1926) is an Argentinean artist born in Rosario, Province of Santa Fe. He was one of the founding fathers of the Asociación Arte Concreto — Invención, formed the Grupo de Artistas Modernos de la Argentina and, in 1977, carried out an exhibition titled Adiós a una época [Goodbye to an era], which signaled a profound change in his poetics.
Ignacio Pirovano was a lawyer, painter, and art collector. Between 1937 and 1955, he directed the Museo de Arte Decorativo and presided over the Comisión Nacional de Cultura between 1952 and 1953. From these posts he promoted Concrete art and design.
When World War II ended, Italian dealer Alfredo Bonino opened the Galeria Domus in São Paulo (1946). Later, in 1949, he carried out three exhibitions in Buenos Aires at the Galería Samos and finally opened Galería Bonino (1951). In 1954, he incorporated the editorial practice with his Editorial de Arte Galería Bonino. During the 1960s, Bonino expanded to Rio de Janeiro and New York. He was an innovator in the art market, above all in the area of publicity management for the exhibitions, the construction of specific sites, and the establishment of contracts with artists. In the 1950s, his gallery exhibited acclaimed artists from the visual renewal of the 1930s. However, during the following decade he commercialized the works of Informalist and Nueva Figuración artists in Argentina, in tandem with European and American artists of the international circuit.
