The text details the curriculum of the art schools for workers as well as the introduction of new subject matter. Supported by the Department of Fine Arts and the SEP, Ministry of Public Education, the staff would instruct the Mexican workers who would come to receive an art education after their work in the factories.

Guided by the principle “workers can count on direct support in their artistic education,” the developers of these educational centers advocated partisanship and a sense of identity within the labor sector. The objective was to develop a political awareness and an interest in the reconstruction discourse. These schools were conceived to instruct laborers after their workday; thus, in addition to being productive, workers should also receive an arts education. In Mexico, the cultural policy of the Cárdenas administration (1934-1940) called for the birth of a “new man” that would represent the communal nationalist values of a government that sought to guarantee social order.
