Ever since it was founded, the CAYC (Centro de Arte y Comunicación), helmed by the cultural promoter, artist, and businessman Jorge Glusberg, was intended as an interdisciplinary space where an experimental art movement could flourish. The establishment of collaborative networks connecting local and international artists and critics played an important role in this process. As part of the interdisciplinary action that the CAYC had always endorsed, the center promoted experimental practices; it appropriated several ideas from Argentine art that had been explored in the 1960s and developed them as part of its poetics.
The “Ciclo de investigaciones teatrales 73–74” began with a performance by the Nosotros Laboratorio de Teatro group based on their experimental play Trabajo n° 5 (Work n° 5) (GT 297; doc. no. 1478830, GT-321; doc. no. 1478841), which they had presented at the CAYC. This newsletter announces a second event in the Ciclo, which was photographed by Norberto Lavecchia, who had documented theatrical and dance performances at venues such as the Centro Cultural San Martín de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. He directed Sensaciones (Sensations) at the CAYC in 1974 together with an experimental theater-dance company called Dimensión 7 (GT-427; doc. no. 1478901). Soon after that the Grupo de Teatro del Encuentro performed Ceremonia del segundo Nacimiento (Second Birth Ceremony) (GT-302; doc. no. 1478986, GT-317; doc. no. 1478987 as part of the “Ciclo de investigaciones;” as did the group Gente en investigación actoral (GT-308; doc. no. 1478837), which staged Agujas de coser (Sewing Needles), directed by Osvaldo Moro (GT-418; doc. no. 1478895).
